The Center for Research and Storytelling at the University of California, Los Angeles has released its annual report, “Teens and Screens,” which provides information about the tastes and preferences of young media consumers, Variety writes.
This year’s report is titled “Be Real: Demand for Recognition” because research shows that teens and young adults seek recognition and authentic representation in a variety of media-related aspects. The study surveyed 1,500 Americans ages 10 to 24 about their media consumption and preferences. The sample proportionately reflected the racial, ethnic, gender, sexual, economic, and geographic diversity of Generation Z in the United States.
According to the research, zoom users have a clear preference for animation. The share of young people who prefer animated content to game content increased from 42% last year to 48.5% this year. Romance was also in the penultimate place on the list of topics that young people would like to see on screen. 60.9% of survey respondents said they would like to see a romantic relationship “where there is more friendship between couples than sex.” 48.4% said there was “too much sex and sexual content in TV shows and movies.”
By the way, we have previously talked about why the institution of marriage attracts the attention of those who zoom again.
