Patrick Dempsey (Grey’s Anatomy) teased that he might be involved in the next slasher sequel, Screams 7 where he would reprise his role as Mark Kincaid, which he originated in the 2000s Scream 3as a detective investigating Ghostface’s most recent murders.
With a seventh episode of Cry ongoing franchise, Dempsey confirmed he is in talks to reprise his role, telling The Today Show:
“I’m waiting for the script,” Dempsey said. Dempsey’s Mark survived Ghostface’s attacks Screams 3, and in 2022 Cryis revealed Neve CampbellSidney Prescott married and had three children with him. “There was a conversation about it,” he added. “I haven’t seen anything yet. So we’ll see what happens.”
Dempsey recalled working with Campbell again Grey’s Anatomy in season 9, when she played Derek Shepherd’s sister Liz.
Al Roker asked Dempsey if he was open to returning to the team Cry franchise, to which the actor said, “I mean, you know, it’s always nice to have a job.”
Screams 7 the opening is scheduled for February 27, 2026 and Kevin Williamson and Neve Campbell will return to the franchise they started in 1996. Williamson created the franchise and will direct the seventh installment, featuring Guy Busick set to write the screenplay.
