Horror film producer Blumhouse Jason Blum offered an update on the upcoming adaptation of the hit video game Dead in daylightand it looks like fans will have to wait a while.
During New York Comic-Con, Blum was asked about the film during an interview with CB, and said, “I’m working on the script. You know, we don’t put movies on the calendar until we have the right script.”
He continued to manage expectations, saying, “It took us 10 years to make Five Nights at Freddy’s, and I think one of the reasons the movie worked is because we spent 10 years trying to get it right.
“I hope we get a script that we love. We’re working on a script, but it might take five years, it might take 12 months. You just don’t know. You can’t make the movie until the script is right, and you don’t know how long it will take.”
This is why many Blumhouse films are so good. They actually have a script ready and done before they start filming. I like that they take their time with their film projects.
In Dead in daylightone player takes on the role of a vicious killer, while the other four players try to escape and avoid being captured, tortured and killed. Some of the demented assassins include The Nurse, The Wraith, The Hag, and others.
There are also classic movie villains and licensed characters from movies that have been added to the game such as Michael Myers, Freddy Krueger, and Pinhead.
Founder and CEO of Atomic Monster James Wan said: “In ‘Dead by Daylight’ the Behavior team has created a love letter to the world of horror, building an incredible environment full of terrifying atmospheres and villains, perfect for a scary film adaptation.
“We at Atomic Monster are huge fans of the game and are thrilled to partner with Blumhouse to bring this terrifyingly visceral world to the big screen.”
Blum previously said: “We know there are so many ‘Dead by Daylight’ fans out there, and we think it’s imperative that we find someone who appreciates and loves the world as much as we do, to help us bring the game to the big screen. We know that our partners at Behavior and Atomic Monster will help us bring the best version of this game to life.”
Stephen Mulrooneyexecutive vice president of Behavior Interactive, said in a statement: “We couldn’t be more excited to work with Jason Blum and James Wan, two giants of the horror film industry, to further expand the ‘Dead by Daylight’ universe.
“At Behavior, our motto is to create unique moments, together, forever. Atomic Monster and Blumhouse are the ideal partners to make “Dead by Daylight’s” killer entrance on the big screen.”
Players have enjoyed playing Dead By Daylight since its launch in 2016, with over 50 million players worldwide and two million players venturing into The Fog every single day.
It will be fun to experience this horror experience in film form.
