THE Predator the franchise is going to have a big year in 2025 because it turns out there will be not one, but two Predator movies coming out!
The first project is the one we all know, Badlandswhich is directed by Dan Trachtenberg’S (10 Cloverfield Lane) and stars Elle Fanning.
The second project is a secret announced by 20th Century Studios head Steve Asbell during a recent interview with THR.
Asbell said, “After Prey became a hit, Dan [Trachtenberg] he came back and said he didn’t want to do Prey 2. And we said, ‘What do you want to do?’ And he rattled off a lot of really crazy but really interesting ideas. We actually did two.
Then he confirmed: “There will be two coming out next year. I can’t talk about one yet, but the other is the live-action Predator movie with Elle Fanning that just wrapped in New Zealand.
So it’s interesting and cool! Even though I’m already excited about Badlands, I’m really curious about this second project and what it will be like. Both were directed by Trachtenberg.
Badlands is set “sometime in the future” and some possible story details have been shared. The rumored logline reads:
“A groundbreaking film in which one of two main plots delves into the intricate bond of two very different sisters, whose family bonds are put to the ultimate test as they pursue divergent paths and missions.”
Beyond that, Asbell also teases a new Alien/Predator mashup movie that could happen in the future, saying, “It wouldn’t be the way you think. That’s the point. Not in the sense that it will simply be called Alien vs. Predator or something similar to the original films.
“If we do that, they will be created organically by these two franchises that we have carried on with characters that we fall in love with and those characters will combine…maybe. But we haven’t gotten to that point. And we’re not just going to slam it.
Badlands will be released on November 7, 2025. We don’t know when the other one will be released or if it will be released on streaming or in theaters.
