Mace Windu is one Star Wars character that fans had mostly written off as gone forever at this point. He apparently died in the third prequel in 2015, Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sithbut that didn’t stop him from reminding fans and Star Wars producers that he would be willing to return as the badass Jedi.
He reiterated his position during a recent appearance on Tonight’s show with Jimmy Fallonin which he stated:
“I mean, there’s a long history of one-armed, one-handed people in… Star Wars universe. So just because they cut off my arm and I fell out of a window doesn’t mean I died.
“I am a Jedi! I am the second most powerful Jedi in the universe, after Yoda. Yes, he’s out there walking the Earth with Jules [from Pulp Fiction.]”
Jackson sat down with Josh Horowitz Happy, sad, confused podcast previously, and generated chatter about his possible return when he talked about asking the director Bryce Dallas Howard to bring it back in Star Wars universe through The Mandalorian.
While this hasn’t happened yet, it has once again sparked the whole debate of whether or not Mace Windu will survive among fans. He said in the interview:
“There’s a long history of one-handed people coming back in Star Wars… The only person I ever said that to about them coming back was Bryce Dallas Howard, because I just did a movie with her.
“And he directs episodes of The Mandalorianthen: ‘Do you think you might be able to pick up a brother? I mean, you like me, right?’ She says, ‘I love you, you’re amazing!’ So: ‘Put me back there… Put me back in, coach, I’m ready!’ You know, I’m going to learn how to swing a lightsaber. Come on, hook me up.”
Fans help determine much of what goes into production at Lucasfilm. So let us know if you’d like to see Jackson return as Mace Windu below. I know I would!
