Prime Video has released the first trailer for the series adaptation of the twisted 1999 film Cruel intentionswhich will tell the story in a new setting with all new characters.
The project is described as a “ruthless new series,” the story of which centers on an indecent bet between wealthy half-siblings Caroline Merteuil (Sarah Catherine Hook) and Lucien Valmont (Zac Burgess), who govern the Greek system at Manchester College, their university adjacent to Washington DC.
But “when a hazing incident jeopardizes their status, Caroline enlists Lucien’s help in capturing the US Vice President’s daughter, Annie.Savannah Lee Smith) to engage his brotherhood.
The series was developed by Phoebe Fisher AND Sara Goodmannincludes the rest of the cast Sara Silva, John Harlan Kim, Khobe Clarke, Brooke Lena Johnson AND Sean Patrick Thomaswho previously played Ronald in the original Cruel intentions movie.
The series trailer also includes some nostalgic callbacks to the original film, including a cheerful cover of The Verve “Bitter Sweet Symphony,” a familiar black convertible and the familiar rosary necklace with a hidden secret.
The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television, Amazon MGM Studios and Original Film. Together with Fisher and Goodman, Neal H. Moritz AND Pavun Shetty of Original Film is also executive producer together with Roger Kumble.
Cruel intentions will consist of eight episodes and will premiere on November 21st.
