Oscar and Golden Globe nominated actor Liam Neeson he had a good career. He has starred in films of all genres, most notably hitting his stride with a string of successful action films over the past two decades.
But according to the actor, he feels it may be time to abandon his “very particular skills” and retire from the action movie scene.
In a recent interview with People magazine (via Deadline), Neeson said, “I’m 72 — it has to stop at some point.” THE Taken the actor continues to perform his fight scenes, with Mark Vanselow attempting his most challenging stunts. He added: “You can’t fool the public. I don’t want Mark to fight my fight scenes for me.
Neeson hasn’t set a date to stop making action movies, but noted it could be 2025. “Maybe late next year. I think that’s it,” he said.
Neeson’s next film, Absolution, will be released in theaters on November 1st. It revolves around an aging gangster who attempts to reconnect with his children and correct the mistakes of the past. The actor recently finished filming a reboot of the crime comedy The naked gun.
Next, Neeson will star in the cross-country car chase film titled The Mongoose. The Prime Video film stars Neeson as Ryan “Fang” Flanagan, a war hero who, accused of a crime he didn’t commit and with nothing to lose, leads the police on an epic car chase across televised country.
Aided by members of his former Army Special Forces battalion and closely monitored by a fascinated public rooting for his safe escape. Longtime Neeson collaborator Marco Vanselow he is set to direct the film.
