The boys Season 5 has been added Stranger things actor Freemason Dyer to its cast and will play an illusory Supe mentioned in the fourth season… Bombsight.
The casting was announced on social media: “We warmly welcome Mason Dye, who will join as Bombsight in season five. More details, you ask? You know better by now.”
Dye is best known for playing Jason Stranger things Season 4 and also starred in the horror film Truth or DareAND Flowers in the attic.
Bombsight isn’t from the comics, but what we know is that he is the third oldest Supe in The Boys universe.
Shortly after his birth, his parents accepted Vought’s offer to inject him with Compound V, subsequently transforming him into a Supe and granting him superhuman powers and abilities.
Bombsight was named at Vought’s V52 Expo as the star of Vought’s first superhero films in 1953 called The Curse of Fu Manchu.
It’s unclear how big a role he will have in the show, but there’s also a possibility he could appear in the prequel series Vought Rising, alongside Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy and Aya Cash as Stormfront. The show is set in the 1950s, so it would make sense to include Bombsight in that series as well.
But, since the news broke, Variety has reported that the new Supe could also appear in the upcoming prequel series Vought Rising, alongside Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy and Aya Cash as Stormfront. The show is set in the 1950s, which makes sense given that Bombsight also appears to be an ageless Supe, just like Soldier Boy. Who knows, this could mean that Supe and Ackles’ Bombsight could team up in Boys season 5 as well.
The fifth season will be the last season of the series and speaking about it, the creator and the showrunner, Eric Kripke teased:
“You know, I think the season four finale really shows you that we’ve been planning this for five years, because there’s no way a show can continue another season after the events of that finale. As far as we’re concerned, it’s the version of apocalypse of our show.”
The series is described as follows: “The world is on the brink. Victoria Neuman is closer than ever to the Oval Office and under the muscular thumb of Homelander, who is consolidating his power.
“Butcher, with only months to live, has lost Becca’s son and his job as leader of the Boys. The rest of the team is fed up with his lies. With the stakes higher than ever, they must find a way to work together and save the world before it’s too late.”
Dye recently joins the cast Daveed Diggs (Hamilton, Snowpiercer) in the series.
