The sequel to THE WILD ROBOT is in development at DreamWorks Animation

DreamWorks Animation The wild robot it’s a fantastic movie! I’ve already seen it twice and it’s just one of those films that hits all the emotions in all the right places.

While the film works perfectly as a standalone film, after crossing the $100 million mark at the box office globally, The wild robot director Chris Sanders confirmed that a sequel is currently in development at DreamWorks Animation.

Sanders confirmed: “100% yes, there are absolutely plans for a second one.” Hopefully they can capture the magic again and make a sequel that manages to reach the bar set by the first film.

The film “follows the journey of a robot – ROZZUM unit 7134, ‘Roz’ for short – who is shipwrecked on an uninhabited island and must learn to adapt to harsh environmental conditions, gradually building relationships with the island’s animals and becoming his foster parent of an orphaned duck.

This is a powerful story about “self-discovery, an exciting examination of the bridge between technology and nature, and a moving exploration of what it means to be alive and connected to all living things.”

The wild robot stars Lupita Nyong’o (We, Black Panther) as the robot Roz; Pedro Pasquale (The Last of Us, the Mandalorian) as the fox Fink; Catherine O’Hara (Schitt’s Creek, the best of the show) as Pinktail possum; Bill Nighy (Living, truly loving) as long-necked goose; Kit Connor (Heartstopper, Rocketman) as the Duck Brightbill and Stephanie Hsu (Everything everywhere and everything at once, The Fall Guy) as Vontra, a robot who will intersect with Roz’s life on the island.

The film also features the voice actors of Marco Hamill (Star Wars franchising), Matt Berry (What we do in the shadows) AND Ving Rames (Mission: Impossible, Pulp Fiction).
