Marvel Studios held a couple of test screenings for Captain America: Brave New Worldand, according to insiders, the film didn’t go over well with test audiences.
Negative responses from the film’s very first test screenings prompted Marvel Studios to order extensive reshoots. That shoot will last more than four months with the studio hiring Knight of the Moon writer Matthew Orton to write some new scenes for the film.
But in this new round of test screening, which took place last week, things don’t seem to have improved.
Two screenings reportedly took place, with attendees divided into groups with either a green or red wristband. An initial report from World of Reel stated that two cuts of the film had been shown. But each screening could also have covered two different demographics.
Regardless, the film is described as “unremarkable” and “flat.” Hollywood insider MTTSH also heard from a few people who attended the screening.
“Just heard back from about 3 people who went to see the test screening of Captain America Brave New World and WOOF. The movie looks awful.
Another report said: “Marvel has held numerous test screenings of different film cuts over the past month.
“The main criticism is the use of the Leader character in both cases, it’s either too much or too little.
“One cut seemed to contain Amadeus Cho for future projects”
“Consistently high marks for Sam and President Ross.”
I was actually looking forward to watching this movie, so it would be a shame if Marvel ended up dropping the ball and delivering another mediocre Marvel movie.
In the film “After the meeting with the newly elected president of the United States Thaddeus Ross, played by Harrison Ford Making his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Sam finds himself in the middle of an international incident.
“He must uncover the motive behind a nefarious global conspiracy before the true mastermind causes the entire world to see red.”
Speaking about the film earlier, Kevin Feige he said he is trying to capture the same magic they passed on to them Captain America: The Winter Soldier leaning into the whole political thriller aspect of the story.
Captain America: Brave New World stars Anthony Mackie, Danny Ramirez, Shira Haas, Xosha Roquemore, Carl Lumbly, with Giancarlo Esposito, Liv Tyler, Tim Blake NelsonAND Harrison Ford.
The film is directed by Giulio Onah and produced by Kevin Feige AND Nate Moore.
Captain America: Brave New World will be released in American theaters on February 14, 2025.
