A couple of weeks ago this was reported Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights, Bloodline) was in talks to star in DC Studios’ upcoming HBO series Lanterns.
James Gunn has now confirmed that Chandler has accepted the role and welcomes the actor to the DCU. Gunn said: “Welcome to the DCU, Kyle Chandler! Now our Hal Jordan in #Lanterns.”
I’m a big fan of Chandler being cast in this role and I’m curious to see what his version of Hal Jordon will be. THE Lanterns Hal Jordan’s version will be a grizzled veteran Green Lantern in the series, said to take cues from the likes of HBO True detective.
The series will focus on new recruit John Stewart and Lantern legend Hal Jordan, “two intergalactic cops caught up in a dark Earth mystery as they investigate a murder in the heartland of America.”
The project is developed by Ozarks‘S Chris Mundy, Guardians‘S Damon Lindelofand comic book writer Tom King.
Speaking previously about DC Studios’ eight-episode series, Gunn and Peter Safran said: “John Stewart and Hal Jordan are two of DC’s most compelling characters, and Lanterns brings them to life in an original crime novel that’s a key part of the unified DCU.”
Are you happy that Chandler was confirmed for the role?
