New rumors about the return of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in SPIDER-MAN 4 and the future of Tom Holland

One of the most anticipated characters fans are waiting to see return to the Marvel screen is Spider-Man, which is frustrating because there isn’t even a movie in the works. Both the studio and the star have hinted that the door is definitely not closed on Peter Parker’s next chapter, but no one knows for sure which direction it will go.

Some new rumors claim to shed light on the future of the Sony/Marvel universe. According to a report from The Cosmic Circus, the biggest news concerns plans for Tobey Maguire AND Andrea Garfieldtheir respective web-slingers. According to Alex Perez, “there’s a very strong possibility that they’ll show up for an extended role this time around,” meaning we could see a lot more of them in Spider-Man 4.

With regard to Tom HollandIt’s Peter Parker,”[he] will get the symbiote suit in the next few years and may keep it for the next two Spidey movies.” This makes sense considering Avengers: Secret Wars she approaches quickly, even though all signs point to her having the alien costume when she meets him Tom Hardy’s Venom in his next solo release.

However, despite a team being planned for the Spider-Man: No Way Home following, Perez confirms the Netherlands No appear in Venom: The Last Dance (including in any mid- or post-credits scenes).

He also states that “Every day that passes, [Spider-Man 4] it becomes increasingly multiversal compared to the street level. At this point, I’d say it has a slightly cosmic bent rather than a street one.” That said, it appears the door has closed on a collaboration with Daredevil. At least for now.

Answering other readers’ questions, Perez says Black Cat won’t appear in the film and reveals that Knull wields his All-Black sword despite what we saw in Thor: Love and Thunderand that Spider-Men and Venom will likely fight “multiple symbiotes.”

Destin Daniel Cretton will direct Spider-Man 4While Spider-Man: No Way Home scribes Chris McKenna AND Erik Sommers they’re coming back to write the script.

A release date for the film has not been announced, but it is expected to hit theaters on July 24, 2026.
