True Blood star Stefano Moyer will be the protagonist of a detective series project set in the world of art and will be titled Art Detective. The original project is set at Acorn TV, the streamer owned by AMC Networks.
Moyer plays art-loving DI Mick Palmer in the series, “which centers on the Heritage Crime Unit police department.
“Alongside the outspoken DC Shazia Malik, played by The Lazarus Project‘S Nina Singhthe pair solve murders related to the world of art and antiques, from Old Master paintings, to Banksy street art, to medieval manuscripts and collectible vinyl.
In the series, “the cleverly cunning detectives encounter a fake Vermeer, Viking gold, a rare Chinese vase and items salvaged from the Titanic.
“Palmer navigates these cases while managing a budding romance with museum curator Rosa, played by Coupling star Sara Alessandro and the sudden reappearance of his charismatic father, Ron, played by Gavin and Stacey‘S Larry Lambwho happens to be one of Britain’s most famous forgers.
The series is written by Dan Gaster, Willing, Paul Powell, Emma Goodwin AND Kitty Percy and directed by Declan O’Dwyer AND Jennie Paddon.
Moyer said in a statement: “I am very excited to bring the slightly eccentric Mick Palmer to life in this wonderfully creative crime series.
“The writing team is active Art Detective they’ve done a great job skillfully weaving together intriguing plots, noteworthy artwork, and a little history thrown in for good measure.

Moyer recently starred in the PBS reboot The Forsyte Saga and the Paramount+ remake Sexy beast. The series will be filmed in Belfast and across Northern Ireland and will debut in 2025.
