SHERLOCK producer says ‘there’s a future’ for Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman’s series

The fantastic BBC Sherlock series with protagonist Benedict Cumberbatch AND Martin Freemann could make a comeback one day according to producer Sue Vertue.

Sherlock had a strong run of four seasons and a Christmas special, and concluded in 2017. Both Cumberbatch, who played Sherlock, and Freeman, who played John Watson, worked incredibly hard, and it would be too difficult to bring them back. band. Together.

When asked about the show’s possible future, Vertue told Deadline: “We always say never say never. I still have the set in storage somewhere, which is probably rotten, to be honest. It’s just lining everyone up, it’s convincing actors to want to do it.”

“We love that show and there’s a future for it. Someday. Maybe. If everyone wants to do it.”

Marco Gatisswho co-created the show with Steven Moffat, had previously teased that a film might one day be made, saying: “We’d love to make a film but trying to get everyone together is very difficult. You’ll have to ask Benedict [Cumberbatch] and Martin [Freeman].”

A couple of years ago, Moffat said he was ready to move on to season five, saying he would “start writing Sherlock tomorrow” if the actors agreed to return. He then asked them to come back, saying, “They’re doing bigger and better things but, Martin and Benedict, ‘please come back?'”

Moffat seems to have a story for season five that he’s really excited and happy about. Moffatt went on to say: “Quite excitingly, Marco (Gatiss) and I, for no particular reason, just started planning what we could do next.

“We mapped out the entire series four and five. The ideas we had that day, I thought were the best we’ve ever had. So we have plans, but our plans don’t tend to be ‘Let’s blow up the world or cast the most famous person in the world,’ they tend to be ‘What exciting twists can we add to this?’ and I think we have crackers!”

It would be great to see Cumberbatch and Martin return for at least one more Sherlock adventure. It’s nice to know that there are some people involved in the series who haven’t given up on a possible return.
