Mike Flanagan says Shudder horror film ODDITY is a ‘masterclass in terror, atmosphere and tension’

Mike Flanaganthe director of Doctor Sleep, The Haunting of Hill HouseAND Midnight massrecommended a new horror movie currently streaming on Shudder.

The film is titled Strangenessand is a supernatural thriller directed by Damian McCarthy (Warning). It currently has a 95% critical rating on Rotten Tomatoes. This is a movie I will definitely be watching soon!

This was hailed as one of the scariest of the year, and Flanagan shared his praise from the film on Letteredbox saying:

“A compelling opening sequence involving a woman opening the door to a disturbing stranger blossoms into a tale of supernatural vengeance, painful spirits, and buried secrets.”

The story follows a character named Dani, who is murdered, and her blind occultist twin sister, Darcy, pursues those responsible using inherited haunted objects as tools of revenge.

The synopsis reads: “When Dani is brutally murdered in the remote country house she and her husband Ted are renovating, everyone suspects a patient at the local mental health institution, where Ted is a doctor.

“However, soon after the suspect is found dead. A year later, Dani’s blind twin sister Darcy, a self-proclaimed psychic and collector of cursed objects, pays an unexpected visit to Ted and his new girlfriend, Yana.

“Convinced that there is more to her sister’s murder than people know, Darcy has brought with her the most dangerous items in her cursed collection to help her get revenge.

Strangeness stars Gwilym Lee, Carolyn Bracken as both Dani and Darcy, Tadhg Murphy, Carolina Menton, Jonathan FrenchAND Steve Wall.
