I hope that one day Marvel Studios will introduce Ghost Rider into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The question is, when that happens, what version of the character will it be?
Nicholas Cage previously played Johnny Blaze’s version of Ghost Rider on the big screen, and Gabriel Moon played Robbie Reyes’ version of Ghost Rider on Agents of SHIELD.
While Johnny Blaze is my favorite version of the character, the one I’d like to see debut in the MCU, Brad Winderbaum, Marvel Studios’ head of streaming, television, and animation, has a different idea.
Collider spoke with Winderbaum, and when Ghost Rider was mentioned, he went with Johnny Blaze’s hell-brother, Danny Ketch.
He said, “I would love to do the Danny Ketch era of Ghost Rider. I think there are a lot of people who would be here for a little Ghost Rider.”
Now, just because he wants Ketch’s Ghost Rider doesn’t mean that’s the one. Kevin Feige wants.
Danny Ketch is the second Ghost Rider, first appearing in Ghost Knight #1 in 1990. His journey begins when he stumbles upon a mystical motorcycle and a glowing medallion while trying to protect his sister, Barbara, from a gang attack.
After touching the medallion, Danny transforms into the Ghost Rider, a Spirit of Vengeance with a flaming skull and a powerful chain weapon. Unlike the original Ghost Rider, Johnny Blaze, who was tied to the demon Zarathos, Danny’s transformation is tied to a different Spirit of Vengeance called Noble Kale.
He acquires the ability to take revenge on the guilty, mainly using the penitential gaze, which forces the evildoers to feel the pain they have inflicted on others.
As Ghost Rider, Danny is driven by a deep sense of responsibility to protect innocents, but must come to terms with the dark and often violent nature of his powers.
Her story arc explores the heavy burden of wielding such supernatural powers, the toll it takes on her personal life, and the constant conflict between revenge and justice.
Over time, Danny adapts to his role, facing powerful enemies, including demonic forces, criminal organizations and other supernatural threats.
