Trailer for Shudder’s Twisted New Horror Film DADDY’S HEAD

Shudder has released the trailer for its new horror film Dad’s headThe twisted and dark story is set after the untimely death of a young boy’s father.

The boy is “marooned in the eerie solitude of a sprawling country estate with his recently widowed stepmother. Trying to juggle the daunting task of parenthood, the stepmother walks away, leaving their fragile bond at risk of collapse.

“Amid the mounting tension, the boy begins to hear disturbing sounds echoing through the hallways, and is soon haunted by the presence of a grotesque creature that bears an eerily familiar resemblance to his deceased father.

“As the boy’s warnings are dismissed as the imagination of a grieving child, the sinister entity tightens its grip on their ruined lives.

The film was written and directed by Benjamin Barfootand we have a little insight into his career to share. He is explained as being a “self-taught filmmaker from Torbay, Devon. He started out in animated films as a child, quickly moving into video, where he taught himself a range of skills, from cameras and editing to animation, visual effects and sound design.

“Having moved to London with an animated short he had made at home, he was nominated for a Broadcast Young Talent Award and began cutting his teeth in London, working on everything from film trailers to motion graphics promos to documentaries for the BBC.

“In between jobs, he continued to create his own work, experimenting with dark animated shorts and completely improvised comedies that he shot and edited.

“It was these comedy films, created with his friend and collaborator Danny Morgan, that eventually led to his directorial debut, Double dateReleased in 2017 in cinemas across the country, the film saw him selected for the BIFA for Best New Director, while winning the Best International Feature Film award at Strasbourg that same year.

“Benjamin also worked with the band Goat on the soundtrack. The success of this musical collaboration inspired him to further experiment with music production while developing his own original screenplays. Dad’s head is Barfoot’s second feature film; he wrote, directed and edited the film, as well as composing the score.”

His new film Dad’s head It looks like a very disturbing and well-made horror film. The film will be released on October 11th, after the Fantastic Fest screenings.
