TRANSFORMERS ONE had a disappointing debut at the box office, what do you think happened?

Transformers One did not do as well as Paramount Pictures had hoped at the box office on its opening weekend. The film had grossed $25 million domestically, and was on track to open with $35 million, so it was a tough sell.

So what happened? Why didn’t people show up to see the movie? Well, in my opinion, the marketing and trailers didn’t do a good job of selling the movie, and people just weren’t excited to see it.

I wasn’t initially sold on this movie, but after watching it all the way through, I loved it! The movie ended up being a really good movie that told a strong story! It’s funny, because after I saw it, a new trailer came out and I said to my friend, “I know this movie is good because I’ve seen it, but this trailer is putting me off watching it.”

Some of the issues I saw people talking about were the comedic tone, the completely new and different character personalities, the cartoonish designs, and of course the fact that Peter Cullen wasn’t playing Optimus Prime. But there was also something about the marketing that was turning people off.

The marketing should have focused more on the evilness of Transformers instead of this whole new and different comedic tone that has never really been a Transformers thing. After seeing the movie, I understand what they are trying to do, but it doesn’t translate well with the marketing.

So no matter how great the reviews were, people would watch the trailers and say, “No, thanks.” Even after I told some of my friends how funny and great the movie was, they still didn’t want to go out and see it.

They just can’t get past what they’ve been shown in all the marketing. It’s really interesting, but I get it! I was in the same boat.

I still think there is life in the Transformers franchise, and that goes for GI Joe also. But the executives and producers attached to these brands at Paramount Pictures really need to understand their target audiences, because they clearly don’t.

This film tells the “origin story of how the most iconic characters in the Transformers universe, Orion Pax and D-16, went from brothers in arms to sworn enemies, Optimus Prime and Megatron.”

The stars of the film Chris Hemsworth like Orion Pax / Optimus Prime, My Friend Brian Tyree Henry like D-16 / Megatron, Scarlett Johansson like Elita-1, and Keegan Michael’s Key like B-127 / Bumblebee.

Transformers One is currently playing in theaters around the world.
