My Friend Christopher Reeve He’s the perfect Clark Kent/Superman, and no matter how hard an actor tries, no one will be able to bring to the character what Reeve brought to him. It was truly something special, and every time I watch the original Superman movie I’m in awe.
There are so many amazing scenes that showcase Reeve’s acting talent in Superman, but there is one that completely blew me away and that I didn’t notice until I was older, and this scene is also Reeve’s son’s favorite scene, Matthew Reeve.
Matthew talks about the scene in the upcoming documentary Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Storyand thanks to CinemaBlend we have a clip here for you to watch.
Reeve says in the clip: “There’s this incredible scene, it’s my favorite scene from my dad’s film work. He was playing Superman, Clark Kent. He kind of takes off his glasses and he transforms. He puts his glasses back on and he’s Clark again, instantly. I mean, he absolutely nailed it.”
What I love about this scene is that there is no need for special effects. There is no need for any kind of visual makeup. It is just Christopher Reeve relying on his physicality and acting to illustrate the difference between Kal-El and his Clark Kent persona.

The documentary’s synopsis reads: “Christopher Reeve’s story is one of incredible rise from unknown actor to iconic movie star, and his definitive portrayal of Clark Kent/Superman set the benchmark for the superhero cinematic universes that dominate cinema today.
“Reeve played the Man of Steel in four Superman films and played dozens of other roles that demonstrated his talent and versatility as an actor, before he was injured in a near-fatal horseback riding accident in 1995, which left him paralyzed from the neck down.
“After becoming a quadriplegic, he became a charismatic leader and activist in the search for a cure for spinal cord injury, as well as a passionate advocate for disability rights and care, all while continuing his film career in front of and behind the camera and dedicating himself to his beloved family.”
Directed by Ian Good AND Peter EttedguiThis film delves deeply into the life and career of the man who made the world believe that “a man can fly.”
It will be ReeveChristopher Reeve’s youngest son, said: “You might think you know Superman, or the lawyer, or whatever version of Christopher Reeve you think you know, but then you see him as a father.”
This is one movie you don’t want to miss. It will be released on September 21, 2024.
