Ella Purnell Is an Unassuming Serial Killer in New Trailer for Thriller Series SWEETPEA

Sky TV has released a trailer for the upcoming Starz thriller series Sweet peawhich has as protagonists Ella Purnell (Fall) as an unassuming serial killer.

Purnell plays Rhiannon Lewis, a young woman who doesn’t make much of an impression. People walk right past her on the street without even looking at her. She’s constantly passed over for promotions at work, her crush won’t commit, and her father is really, really sick.

“So far, shit. Then everything in her life is turned upside down and Rhiannon is pushed over the edge. It snaps. Suddenly the shy coy is gone and in her place is a young woman capable of anything…

“Rhiannon’s life changes when she discovers an intoxicating new power, but can she keep her killer a secret?”

Purnell said in a statement: “I can’t wait for the world to meet Sweetpea! I’ve loved exploring this incredibly complex character, as well as working alongside our dynamic cast and the powerhouses Ella Jones, Kristie Swain and Patrick Walters.

“This has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career so far. Ultimately, the show is about a woman finally finding her voice, told through a unique, dark and comedic lens. I hope audiences have as much fun with Rhiannon Lewis’ crazy journey, which is where she ends up, as we had fun bringing it to life.”

The rest of the cast includes Nicole Lecky (Mood, Sense8) like Julia, Jon points out (Big boys, suffocated) like Craig, Calam Lynch (Bridgerton Bridge) like AJ, Leah Harvey (Foundation) like Marina, My Friend Jeremy Swift (Ted Lasso) like Norman and Dustin Demri Burns (Slow horses) like Jeff.

The series was written by actress (Pure) next to My Krissie (Killing Eve), Laura Jayne Tunbridge AND Selina Lim (Sex Education, Hanna).

Ella Jones (The child, back to life) acts as director.
