Keanu Reeves Says His Worst On-Set Injury Came From His Comedy GOOD FURTUNE: “The Pain Was Banana Cakes”

You’d think about it later The Matrix AND John Wick, Keanu Reeves would have endured every type of cinematic damage imaginable. But according to the actor, the greatest pain he’s ever felt on a movie set came not from a hardcore action movie, but from filming his new comedy Good luckwhere he plays an angel.

During an appearance on the New Heights podcast with Travis and Jason Kelce, Reeves confirmed that his biggest on-set injury occurred during filming Good luck. He revealed:

“My kneecap, I had a vertical fracture. The pain was like banana cakes.”

So how did the always graceful action star break his kneecap? Turns out it wasn’t during a wild stunt or fight sequence, it was a mat-related accident.

“I was shooting a scene and then I went back to the dressing room, they had rolled out a carpet. Then there was a little section and I caught my foot. Then I started falling and hit my left knee like a bang! And crushed it.”

Even with a broken kneecap, Reeves didn’t take a break from filming. “I was immobilized,” he said. “I wore a brace for basically ten weeks, but I filmed it while I had it on.”

In Good luckReeves plays Gabriel, a well-meaning but clumsy angel who tries to help a struggling worker named Arj, played by Aziz Ansariand a wealthy venture capitalist named Jeff, played by Seth Rogen.

When Gabriel decides to swap their bodies to teach them that money doesn’t buy happiness, things spiral out of control, costing him his wings and forcing him to face his mistakes.

Written and directed by Ansari, the film also features Keke Palmer AND Sandra Ohcompleting a stellar comedic cast.

Reeves may have suffered serious blows over the years, but tripping on a carpet as a celestial being might just be his most unexpected injury.
