Beau DeMayo provides details from his unused BLADE reboot script that was inspired by THE RAID

Handsome DeMayo He is a writer best known for working on shows such as The originals, The Witcher, Knight of the Moon, Star Trek: Strange New Worldsand, more recently, the creation and hosting of the series X-Men ’97.

After being fired from his latest Marvel project, the writer claims that Marvel Studios and Disney “stripped” him of season two credits because of some “gay pride” fan art he shared on Instagram.

The studio responded by saying that the actor had actually been released due to an internal investigation that found he had sent inappropriate photos of himself to various young staff members.

DeMayo has since spoken out about the allegations, saying they are completely false and adding that Marvel was a “toxic environment” with “near-criminal working conditions” that “pitted individuals against each other, fueling paranoia to ensure compliance.”

Aside from the drama and assurance that neither DeMayo nor Marvel will ever try to rekindle that working relationship, DeMayo did drop some interesting insight into what might have happened had he stayed to write the script for the studio. Lama movie.

In a recent social media post, DeMayo shared his pitch and his thoughts on why the studio had such a hard time getting this reboot off the ground:

“Take a John Wick movie. Give gangsters fangs. Swap Keanu for Ali, give him a sword, not a daughter who makes him worry about waving the hero’s name around. Wick cost $20 million. Add $10 million for the visual effects of the vampire magic/Darkhold, and you have a $30-40 million Marvel movie.

“I don’t understand why it was so hard. The studio is broke. I wrote 3 drafts and a dozen drafts in 3 impossible months, my favorite being a ‘The Raid’-style treatment where Blade finds himself defending a crumbling human tenement from Varney’s vampire hordes until dawn.

It took place on a night where Blade learns from tenant Jericho Drumm that Varney is attacking because the tenant that Blade sort of likes has been magically impregnated with Lilith by tenants who are secretly followers of the Cult of the Darkhold. Think 30 Days of Night meets Rosemary’s Baby.”

He definitely has some interesting ideas! Marvel has really come a long way with the character. It felt like we were back on track with Mahershala Ali launched as the newest version, but then fans saw Wesley Snipe to return to Deadpool and Wolverineand many have expressed their desire to see him again in a full film role! So we’re apparently back to square one.

How would you like the study to proceed with Lama?
