Warner Bros. is already developing a sequel to the hit Harry Potter video game The Hogwarts Legacyand the project is one of the studio’s top priorities.
I’m still in the middle of the first game and, for me, there’s no end in sight at the moment. I’m taking my sweet time with the game, so I’m in no rush to play a sequel.
Gunnar Widenfels, chief financial officer of Warner Brothers Discover, said at Bank of America’s recent Media, Communications, and Entertainment conference that the game is only a couple of years away from release.
He said: “Obviously, a successor to Hogwarts Legacy is a major priority in a couple of years’ time. So there’s definitely a significant growth contribution from that. [games] business in our strategic perspective.”
Obviously there are no specifics to share, but it will obviously be set in Hogwarts and I’m sure it will include a lot of new challenges and storylines that players will be able to experience in a different time period.
Hogwarts Legacy is set in the 1800s: “Your character is a student who holds the key to an ancient secret that threatens to tear the wizarding world apart.
“You have been admitted to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry late, and you will soon discover that you are no ordinary student: you possess an unusual ability to perceive and master Ancient Magic.
“Only you can decide whether to protect this secret for the good of all, or give in to the temptation of a more sinister magic.”
Did you enjoy playing the first game and are you excited to hear that a sequel is in development?
