When Amazon Studios first announced they were developing The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power series, have stated that they are committed to making five full seasons.
Prime Video has shared the first numbers for The Rings of Power Season 2, which boasts “40 million viewers” tuned in in the first 11 days. This statistic seems impressive, but it doesn’t specify how many minutes those millions of people actually watched,
According to THR, “Third-party services show sharp decline [in ratings] since the series’ debut season.” But despite that, the report says that Prime Video is still committed to the show’s original five-season plan.”
I’m happy to know that the series will continue and that the showrunners will be able to tell the full story they set out to tell.
I have to say that I am a big fan of the first season of the fantasy series, but the second one was not so good. I was a little disappointed with how things are going in this new chapter of the story, but I continue to hope that it will improve as time goes by.
The story of this season was pretty uninteresting and I found myself getting bored while watching it, except for a few scenes here and there. People shouldn’t get bored while watching a Lord of the Rings story!
But I’m really looking forward to the Siege of Eregion, which we’ll be covering in three episodes.
The series is set “thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien’S The Hobbit AND The Lord of the Ringsand will take viewers back to a time when great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to glory and fell to ruin, unlikely heroes were tested, hope hung by the thinnest thread, and the greatest villain Tolkien had ever created threatened to plunge the entire world into darkness.
“Beginning in a time of relative peace, the series follows a cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared resurgence of evil in Middle-earth.
“From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains, to the majestic forests of the Elven capital of Lindon, to the extraordinary island kingdom of Númenor, to the farthest corners of the map, these kingdoms and characters will leave a legacy that will live on long after they are gone.”
In season two, Sauron has returned. Cast out by Galadriel, without an army or allies, the rising Dark Lord must now rely on his own cunning to rebuild his strength and oversee the creation of the Rings of Power, which will allow him to bind all the peoples of Middle-earth to his sinister will.
“Building on the epic scope and ambition of the first season, Amazon’s second season The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power immerses even its most beloved and vulnerable characters in a growing tide of darkness, challenging each of them to find their place in a world increasingly on the brink of destruction.
“Elves and dwarves, orcs and men, wizards and Harfoots… as friendships are tested and kingdoms begin to fracture, the forces of good fight ever more bravely to hold on to what matters most to them… themselves.”
What do you think of season 2 so far?
