Like the The Masters of the Universe the casting continues a report has emerged that Jared Leto (Blade Runner 2049, Suicide Squad) has received an offer to play Skeletor in the live-action film from Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Films.
The news comes from reliable Hollywood insider Jeff Sneider, and it’s not hard to see why the studio would want to cast him in the role. But I think there are better choices out there.
If Leto accepts the offer, he will join Nicolas Galitzine (Purple, red, white and royal blue hearts, the idea of you) like Prince Adam/He-Man, Camilla Mendes (Riverdale) like his right hand Teela, and the recently chosen Alison Brie (GLOW, Community) as Skeletor’s second-in-command, Evil-Lyn.
I really hope the director Travis Knightknows what he’s doing with this film. Knight, who previously directed films such as Bumblebee AND Kubo and the Two Stringsis directing from a script written by Chris Butler. David Callaham AND Aaron AND Adam Denies worked on the initial draft.
In The Masters of the Universe“10-year-old Prince Adam, who crash-landed on Earth in a spaceship and was separated from his magical Sword of Power, his only connection to his home on Eternia.
“After tracking him down nearly two decades later, Prince Adam is catapulted into space to defend his home planet from Skeletor’s evil forces.
“But to defeat such a powerful villain, Prince Adam must first uncover the mysteries of his past and become He-Man: the most powerful man in the Universe!”
The Masters of the Universe is produced by Escape Artists and Mattel Films and will be released exclusively in theaters worldwide on June 5, 2026.
What do you think about Leto taking on the role of Skeletor in The Masters of the Universe? Will appear in the Disney movie soon TRON: Ares.
