DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE Concept Art Features Alternate Design for Matthew McConaughey’s Cowboy Deadpool

After the release of Deadpool & Wolverine in theaters, we learned that Matthew McConaughey provided the voice of one of Deadpool’s variants, Cowboy Deadpool. Now we have some concept art to share with you that shows us an alternate design.

As you can see, this character design is heavily inspired by the classic Clint Eastwood spaghetti western films. The art was shared by costume illustrator Jonay Bacallado, and was drawn by Mayes Rubeo.

Bacallado said: “Cowboypool’s final costume concept by costume designer @mayesrubeo in Deadpool & Wolverine ❤️💛One of the coolest and craziest sequences in the film is the opening of the portal and the arrival of an army of Deadpool variants.

“Cowboypool was one of the first to be conceptualized. Mayes wanted to pay homage to the western genre. We were inspired by great icons like Clint Eastwood.

“We adapted the shapes, materials and patterns for a more organic feel. The Deadpool poncho pattern was even created using traditional knitting methods. It turned out to be a guy with a lot of character!”

I like this character design! It would be fun to see Cowboy Deadpool explored more. This looks like a fun and interesting Deadpool character!
