The band Linkin Park has a lot of news for his fans this week. Seven years after the band’s frontman Chester Bennington They committed suicide, the remaining members have resurfaced today with a new singer and new music.
In a live broadcast, the returning members Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Phoenix AND Joe Hahn the new singer has debuted Emily Armstrong — who will share vocals with Shinoda — and the drummer Colin BritishThe hour-long performance included the band’s new single, “The Emptiness Machine.” Linkin Park also announced a new album, From scratchout November 15th.
Armstrong hails from the alt-rock band Dead Sara. Brittain is a singer-songwriter and producer who has collaborated with artists such as Papa Roach, One OK Rock and All Time Low. Original drummer Rob Bourdon “has decided to step away” from the band, according to a statement.
The press release reads: “Without expectations, Shinoda, Delson, Farrell and Hahn began quietly meeting again in recent years. Instead of ‘trying to restart the band,’ their instinct was simply to spend more time together and reconnect with the creativity and camaraderie that have been at the heart of their friendship since college.
“During this period, they invited various friends and accomplices to join them in the studio; among the guests, they found a special affinity with Armstrong and Brittain. A natural chemistry brought these musicians back into its gravitational pull as they logged more and more hours in the studio.
“It was the sound of lifelong musicians rediscovering once again the unstoppable energy of a new beginning. This season, FROM ZERO was born.”
Regarding the new era, Shinoda stated, “Before LINKIN PARK, our first band name was Xero. The title of this album refers to both this humble beginning and the journey we are currently on. Sonically and emotionally, it is about the past, present and future, embracing our distinctive, yet fresh and vibrant sound.
“It was made with a deep appreciation for our new and old bandmates, our friends, our family and our fans. We are proud of what LINKIN PARK has become over the years and excited for the journey that lies ahead.”
From the outset, “The Emptiness Machine” embodies LINKIN PARK’s DNA, harnessing the band’s explosive energy while maintaining the hallmarks of their instantly recognizable and inimitable sound. A chameleonic and catchy anthem, Shinoda’s hypnotic melodies transition into Armstrong’s searing chorus, over distorted riffs and head-nodding drums.
Shinoda explained: “The more we worked with Emily and Colin, the more we appreciated their world-class talents, their company, and the things we created.
“We feel really empowered by this new lineup and the vibrant, energetic new music we’ve created together. We’re weaving together the sonic commonalities we’re known for and still exploring new ones.”
The band also announced the From Zero World Tourwhich includes five concerts in arenas in Los Angeles, New York, Hamburg, London and Seoul in the following month, plus a concert in Bogota in November.
