Mrs. Leslie (Pregnant), Fisherman’s Island (Edding’s Intruders), Michelle Buteau (Girls) AND Anna Faris (Scary movie) will star in a new ensemble comedy film entitled Weekend at the spa.
The film is expected to be directed by Bad Moms writer and directors Lucas of Jon AND Written by Scott Moore.
The story follows three best friends, Jane, Coco and Sophie, as they enjoy some well-deserved relaxation during a luxurious spa vacation in Palm Springs.
“But when their misfit friend Mel shows up, relaxation quickly turns to chaos with hilarious consequences.”
Producer Suzanne Todd said: “Thank goodness the rumors are false: Hollywood comedy is not dead! What a joy to work with these amazing, funny and talented women on my fourth film with the incredible comedy team of Lucas and Moore.
“We had a great experience with John Friedberg on Bad Moms and are thrilled to be working together again, giving stressed, working women a film that makes them feel appreciated and seen, while having fun at the same time.”
Producer John Friedberg added: “Suzanne, Jon and Scott have nailed it with the Bad Moms franchise, and Spa Weekend captures that same magic. It’s irreverent, outrageous and always deeply relatable.
“Leslie, Isla, Michelle and Anna are some of the funniest actors in the business and this will undoubtedly be an unforgettable combination on screen. The market is drastically underserved by quality comedies, especially for female audiences, and when these films are good, they really work.”
Although this is an entirely female story, it is one I can relate to because the basic concept of the story is something that actually happened to me, and I am sure many of you may have had a similar experience, that of a disastrous friend who appears out of nowhere and ruins your plans.
Looking back on those experiences, I laugh and think back fondly, but while they were happening, it was a whole different story!
