SUSPIRIA Director Luca Guadagnino to Direct SGT. ROCK for DC Studios

According to a new report, the head of DC Studios James Gunnwould have taken Luca Guadagnino (Suspiria, Bone & All) to direct a Sgt. Rock film.

By Justin Kuritzkes was also called to write a new screenplay for the film. Guadagnino and Kurizkes have previously collaborated on films such as Challengers and the current unreleased Queer.

It was Hollywood insider Jeff Sneider who initially linked Luca Guadagnino to the DC project, which was later confirmed by Nexus Point News in an exclusive reveal.

This is certainly a different project than the one Guadagnino has tackled, as he doesn’t seem like the kind of director who would want to make a film based on a comic book.

Sergeant Franklin “Frank” Rock was created by Robert Kanigher and Joe Kubert and is best known for his role as the leader in the World War II-themed comic book series Our Army at Warwhich was later renamed Sergeant RockFirst appearing in 1959, Sergeant Rock is depicted as a tough, no-nonsense infantryman who leads Easy Company, a group of battle-hardened soldiers in the European Theater of World War II.

Rock is characterized by an unwavering sense of duty, exceptional fighting skills, and a strong loyalty to his men, often serving as both a father figure and protector.

His stories are raw and grounded, focusing on the brutal realities of war, the camaraderie between soldiers, and the personal cost of battle, making him one of DC’s most iconic military heroes.

I’m a fan of Sgt. Rock and I would like nothing more than for this to be turned into a badass DC movie set during World War II.
