Madman Films has released a delightful trailer for the stop-motion animated film Memoirs of a SnailThis film has received very good positive reviews and seems to tell a fantastic and touching story.
The film is described as “a touching, heartfelt and funny chronicle of an outsider’s life as she finds safety and silver linings in the chaos of everyday life.”
The story is set in 1970s Australia, “Grace’s life is fraught with misfortune and loss. After her mother dies during pregnancy, she and her twin brother, Gilbert, are raised by their paraplegic-alcoholic father, a former juggler, Percy.
“Despite a life full of love, tragedy strikes when Percy dies in his sleep. The siblings are separated and thrust into different homes to grow up.
“Grace Pudel is a lonely misfit with an affinity for collecting ornamental snails and an intense love of books. At a young age, when Grace is separated from her fire-breathing twin brother Gilbert, she spirals into anxiety and anguish.
“Despite a continuing series of hardships, inspiration and hope emerge when she forms a lifelong friendship with an eccentric older woman named Pinky, full of grit and a zest for life.”
The film was directed by Australian animation director Adam Elliotwho won an Oscar in 2004 for his short film Harvie KruppetHe also made the stop-motion film Mary and Max.
The voice cast includes Jack Weaver, Eric Ban, Sarah Snook, Kodi Smith McPhee, Dominique Pinon, Magda Szubanskiwith Nick’s Cave.
The film will be released on October 25th
