A short teaser trailer has been released for the dark and offbeat political comedy, voiceswhich has as protagonists Cate Blanchett, Roy Dupuis, Nikki Amuka-Bird, Charles Dance, Mr. Hira, Denis Menochet, Rolando Ravello, Zlatko Buric AND Alicia VikanderThe film is written and directed by Maddin Boy, Evan JohnsonAND Galen Johnson.
The synopsis reads:
“Bouncing between comedy, apocalyptic horror and swoon-worthy soap opera, Rumours follows the seven leaders of the world’s richest democracies as they meet at the annual G7 summit, where they attempt to draft an interim statement on a global crisis. With unexpected and dazzling performances from a brilliant cast that includes Cate Blanchett and Alicia Vikander, these so-called “leaders” become spectacles of incompetence, grappling with increasingly surreal obstacles in the foggy woods as night falls and they realize they’re suddenly alone. A genre-hopping satire of political ineptitude, the latest film from the incomparable filmmakers Guy Maddin, Evan Johnson and Galen Johnson is a journey to the absurd heart of power and institutional failure in a slow-burning world.”
This looks really weird! The trailer doesn’t really reveal anything, so we’ll have to wait to see more before committing, but it’s got me intrigued. voices will be released in select US theaters on October 18th of this year. Watch the trailer below:
