Chad Stahelski to Turn Jonathan Maberry’s Joe Ledger Novels Into TV Series

Director Chad Stahelski of the John Wick franchising, has acquired the rights to bestselling author Jonathan Maberry’s “Joe Ledger” book series through his production company 87Eleven Entertainment to turn it into a television series.

The Joe Ledger thriller series consists of 10 novels and several offshoots. Its protagonist, Joe Ledger, is a psychologically fractured Baltimore detective, secretly recruited by the government to lead a new task force called the Department of Military Sciences to confront terrorists using cutting-edge scientific weapons. Together with his attack dog Ghost, his team of top-level special operators, and the resources of the mysterious Mr. Church, Joe faces threats that no other team can stop.

Stahelski said of the project:

“I loved reading Joe Ledger’s series. It’s a timeless action epic with intrigue, suspense, and such compelling characters. As I read it, I could see the immediate cinematic potential. I’m thrilled to be working with Jonathan to turn it into a TV series.”

Maberry said of teamwork:

“Chad’s career, both behind and in front of the camera, very clearly defines the kind of stuff I love to watch. Matrix, The Crow, John Wick – and so many others are firmly in my wheelhouse. And we’re both lifelong martial artists and also professional pop culture nerds,” Maberry said. “When we first sat down to talk about Joe Ledger, it was clear that he not only read the books, but he deeply and empathetically understood the characters. I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone in Hollywood whose mind runs on such similar tracks to mine. He’s also a visionary and a lot of fun. That’s what they mean when they talk about ‘Hollywood magic.’”
