I remember being so excited watching Alien vs. Predator when it first came out. I also remember walking out of the theater with my friends, extremely disappointed by how bad the movie was.
You know what? I haven’t watched the movie since I first saw it, and my memory of it is so bad that I probably will never watch it again.
As you can imagine, Alien director Ridley Scott he was not a fan of the film, and even accused it of bringing down the Alien franchising.
During a previous interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Scott talked about the franchise and when he talked about Alien vs. Predatorhe said:
“You get to the point where you say, ‘OK, he’s dead in the water.’ I think Alien vs. Predator It was a crazy idea. And I’m not sure if it worked very well or not, I don’t know. But it kind of brought the beast down.”
Yes, those Alien vs. Predator The movies definitely didn’t do the franchise any favors. I think those movies could have been good, but the stories and scripts were shit.
Scott went on to explain why the creatures from the original film worked so well, saying, “The alien [origin concept] It is uniquely tied to Mother Nature. It simply comes from a wood beetle that will lay its eggs inside some unsuspecting insect.
“And in doing so, the egg form becomes the host for this new creature. It’s horrible. But that’s what it was. And you can’t keep repeating that because the joke gets boring.”
In any case, this did not stop the production of many others Alien movies, novels, comics and video games. Even with Alien: Romulusrecently released in theaters, continues to play a lot with those elements.
