When Nicole Kidman took on the role of Dr. Chase Meridian as director Joel Schumacher1995 DC movie Batman Foreverpeople in the industry wondered why the hell she did it. Years later, the actress starred in another DC film, James Wan’S Water Man.
During an interview with L’Officiel, Kidman explains why she accepted these roles and clarifies that it wasn’t for the money. It was for the fun of it!
Kidman recalled: “Everyone asks me, ‘Why do you do this?’ I say, ‘Because I get to kiss Batman!’… The thing people don’t understand is that it’s not about the paycheck. A lot of the big mainstream blockbusters I do are, hopefully, different.”
As for why she agreed to play Queen Atlanna in the Aquaman franchise, it wasn’t because she had a passion for the Water Man comics, because she was a fan of director James Wan and his horror films.
Kidman said she was thrilled when he called her for the role because she originally thought it would be in a horror film, she said: “I really wanted to work with him in a horror film.”
However, playing Aquaman could eventually lead to her starring in a James Wan horror film, which would be awesome! I would love to see Kidman star in another horror film.
