NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS Director Reveals He Inserted Jack Skellington Easter Eggs Into All His Films

Henry Selickdirector of the 1993 cult classic The Nightmare Before ChristmasHe revealed that he hid a Jack Skellington in each of his films.

“If you look very, very carefully, you might find that there’s some image of Jack in every other movie I’ve done. But I can’t legally say that’s true, but it could be,” Selick said in his interview with GamesRadar+.

The Nightmare Before Christmas follows the misadventures of Jack Skellington, the beloved Pumpkin King of Halloweentown, who has grown tired of his yearly routine of scaring people in the “real world.” When Jack accidentally stumbles upon Christmastown, all bright colors and warm spirits, he gets a new lease on life: he plans to bring Christmas under his control by kidnapping Santa Claus and taking over the role. But Jack soon discovers that even the best-laid plans of mice and skeleton men can go seriously awry.

Selick continued to create even more stop-motion animations after his directorial debut with The Nightmare Before Christmas for example Coraline, James and the Giant Peachand much more.

The amount of talent that goes into this art form of stop-motion animation is beyond me. The respect I have for those in the world of this medium is insane. Aside from my irrational fear of the art form, the work that goes on behind the scenes of these films is otherworldly.

The director hinted to the fans of Coralinewho have carefully observed the breakfast scene, to be able to glimpse the famous skeleton in the eggs that the Other Mother breaks.

In James and the Giant Peachthe captain of the Skeleton Pirates resembles Jack and is even called “a Skellington”, in Wendell and Savageappears in the credits.

Jack Skellington has made alleged appearances in other films, including the 2010 Alice in Wonderlanddirected by The Nightmare Before Christmas producer Tim Burton’s Worldin The Mad Hatter’s Tie and in 2003 Finding Nemohidden in the bubbles in Gil’s aquarium. Sally and Jack appear in the Disney Pixar film Ralph Breaks the Internet.

If done right, I think Easter eggs are a fun little thing for fans. I’ve seen videos that break down every detail of Coralineand the passion of the fans is something I respect a lot.

It’s fun to see people come together with their theories, analyses and critiques of some of their favorite movies and shows.
