Amazon MGM Studios is moving forward with its Poltergeist TV series with the addition of Kalinda Vazquez AND Robbie Thompsonwho have been hired for the project as writers, showrunners and executive producers.
There are no details to share about the series, but it will be inspired by Steven Spielberg AND Tobe Hooperclassic horror film from 1982 Poltergeist.
Poltergeist is one of my all-time favorite horror movies and the story revolves around the Freeling family, whose suburban home is haunted by evil spirits.
At first, the spirits seem harmless, communicating with the youngest daughter, Carol Anne, through the family television. However, things quickly turn sinister when Carol Anne is kidnapped by the entities and dragged into an alternate dimension.
With the help of parapsychologists and a spirit medium named Tangina, the Freelings embark on a desperate quest to save Carol Anne from the evil force holding her prisoner.
I’m curious to see what the plan is for this series. Vazquez’s previous television credits include Star Trek: Discovery, Once upon a time, Fear the walking deadAND Evasion.
Thompson was a writer and co-executive producer on numerous seasons of SupernaturalHe also created and served as showrunner for Supernatural prequel series The Winchesters at The CW.
