Investigation Discovery has announced a series of true crime documentaries for the Halloween season, including How (not) to get rid of a dead body (September 4), The Real Elm Street Murders (September 9), and Cabin in the woods (September 9).
What caught my attention was The Real Elm Street Murderswhich explores the numerous real-life murders that occurred on various Elm Streets across America.
While it doesn’t necessarily address the real-life inspirations behind Wes Craven’s classic horror film, it’ll certainly offer some interesting insights.
How (not) to get rid of a dead body “explores the lengths killers go to to get away with murder. Each episode reveals never-before-seen material and tells the stories of criminal masterminds who go to great lengths and lengths to devise plans to get rid of their victims. However, the best detectives in the country are determined to solve these crimes and bring them to light.”
The six-part series The Real Elm Street Murders explores “small suburban towns across America that have been torn apart by murder. It asks how in a single night, these residential streets spiral from peace and tranquility to horror, senseless death and tragedy. Each episode will examine a murder investigation that took place on one of America’s many Elm Streets.”
Finally, Cabin in the woods “explores crimes that take place in remote cabins across the country. Includes investigative elements in a style that blends true crime with true horror.”
