Before Deadpool and Wolverine was released, we expected the film to gross over a billion dollars and become the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time. You didn’t have to be a professional analyst to know that was going to happen.
Now it’s official, Deadpool and Wolverine broke the record and surpassed The Joker as the highest grossing R-rated film of all time, and the fact that it’s a Disney film is pretty hilarious.
Deadpool & Wolverine has grossed $1.086 billion worldwide, with $516.8 million from the domestic box office and $568.8 million from the international box office. For comparison, The Joker has grossed $1.079 billion.
It’s pretty awesome, and since this movie made so much money, we know that Disney and Marvel will bring these characters back for even more crazy action. What the future holds for these characters in the MCU, however, remains to be seen.
We can only hope that as they continue to play with these characters, Marvel will make smart decisions and decide which direction to take.
Congratulations to the creative team behind Deadpool and Wolverine for this huge achievement!
