Mark Wahlberg has been cast to star in the film adaptation of the classic series The Six Million Dollar Man for over a decade, but it’s one of those projects that’s taking a long time to get to fruition.
During a recent interview with CB, Wahlberg talked about the project, joked about the title change, and teased what we can expect if it ever gets made.
The actor said: “You know, I have a superhero movie in mind, and it’s The Six Billion Dollar Manformally known as The Six Million Dollar Manincreased due to inflation.
“It’s grounded, and it’s plausible, it’s real. You know, there’s a lot of bionic technology and science going on right now. So this is a thing that has all the desire of a superhero, incredible things. But I don’t have to wear one of those suits.
“I don’t have the confidence to walk around in one of those costumes. Halle’s like, ‘Oh, you’d look amazing in one of those costumes,’ and I’m like, ‘It’s not the physical aspect, it’s the mental confidence to walk out of my trailer.'”
The original show, which is based on by Martin Caidin The 1972 novel Cyborg tells the story of Steve Austin, a former astronaut and test pilot who is seriously injured in an accident and is later rebuilt with bionic implants, making him superhumanly strong and fast.
With his new abilities, Steve becomes a secret government agent, taking on missions that require his unique skills.
As he grapples with his new identity and the moral implications of his enhanced powers, Steve navigates a world of espionage, intrigue and danger, all while struggling to maintain his humanity amidst his cybernetic enhancements.
The actor previously said: “We had a great, great idea, and it’s something that’s been in the works for a while, so hopefully if we can get the script right, maybe we’ll get it made after we get it made.” Deep Water Horizon (2016).”
