At this weekend’s D23, it was announced that a new land based on the popular Monsters, Inc. franchise is coming to Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World in Florida. During Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase, Disney Experiences chief Josh D’Amaro revealed a new Monsters, Inc. the park land would soon be used as a building zone.
Canonically, the story that follows the theme park takes place immediately after the first film. “Humans have been invited to visit the world of Monsters, Inc. — and the monsters need laughter to keep the town running smoothly,” Disney says of the ride on its website.
“But it’s not a real visit without the factory itself. You’ll see the attractions, hear the laughter, and zip through the building just like James P. Sullivan (aka Sulley) and Mike Wazowski, through a door!”
The centerpiece of the park is a suspended attraction where guests can ascend iconic Monsters, Inc. doors that act as bridges between our world and theirs.
“The first time I saw Monsters, Inc.“…all I wanted to do was step up in one of those doors like Mike and Sulley,” D’Amaro told D23.
“You’ll enter the factory and experience the first suspended roller coaster ever seen in a Disney park. Remember in the movie how those claws grab the doors and lift them into the air to carry them away? We’re doing that too. And you’re joining us for the ride.”
Construction will begin in 2025. Check out the announcement post below:
