Some new details have emerged regarding some of the original plans for Deadpool and Wolverine which was not included in the film.
This new report from insider scooper @MyTimeToShineH, revealed that there were multiple connections to Kang the Conqueror, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, and there was a huge cameo in the post-credit scene originally planned to be there by Robert Downey Jr.It’s Tony Stark.
We all know that this project went through several iterations before arriving at the story it told.
This recent report explains that the film “was supposed to open with the TVA arresting Wade for tampering with Cable’s time machine.
“While in their prison, he hears that the TVA is trying to recruit Anchor Beings from across the multiverse to create an army to fight the Kangs, and that they should look for a version of Logan.”
“Wade decides to run away and find Ultimate Logan before they do, taking him to his world to be his best friend forever, since he’s been trying to be his best friend for years, but the one in his world is now dead.”
“From there, the plot is pretty similar to what we got, with them traveling through the multiverse (which would also make a more logical explanation for the Avengers Tower scene with Happy Hogan). Eventually, they still end up in the Void and from there, it pretty much follows the same path.”
It makes sense that they cut the whole Kang element out of the story for obvious reasons. In the end, the story they told worked great.
As for the film’s post-credits scene, it is explained: “Johnny Storm insulting Cassandra Nova was the original ending, while the original post-credits scene was supposed to show Deadpool returning to Avengers Tower and finally meeting Tony Stark, who rejects him.”
It would have been so much fun to see Deadpool meet Tony Stark! This is a post-credits scene that I kind of wish they’d pulled off. But apparently Downey Jr. didn’t want to come back unless it was for something significant, which makes sense.
Downey Jr. will return to the MCU as Doctor Doom.
