Before Batman: Caped Crusader it became a thing, Bruce Tim revealed that he was initially asked to resuscitate him Batman: The Animated Seriesbut he refused the opportunity.
Tim and Eric Radomski created the original series, which became one of the biggest animated projects ever developed. The series was produced by Warner Bros. Animation and ran for 85 episodes.
Speaking to The Wrap, Timm said that four or five years ago, Warner Bros. asked him if he would be willing to make more episodes of Batman: The Animated Seriesbut it’s something he just wasn’t interested in doing.
Timm explained, “They said, ‘Hey, how would you like to go back and do more Batman: The Animated Series?’ And I said, ‘No, we’ve been there, we’ve done that.’ I wasn’t interested in just revisiting that world.”
I understand that, but as a fan of Batman: The Animated SeriesIt sure would have been exciting to see that! Yes, we do have a new Batman series from Timm, as he was finally brought back to the world of Gotham with Batman: Caped Crusader.
The series focuses on a younger version of Bruce Wayne, during the early days of his crime-fighting career.
Timm said, “The more we talked about it, the more we were like, ‘OK, this is interesting. This is interesting.’ And then we got really excited.”
The series is currently available on Prime Video and while it’s good and it’s nice to have another Batman series to watch, it’s not as good as Batman: The Animated Series.
