Special: Village Roadshow is collaborating with the University of Southern California Film School to produce a film based on New York Times bestselling author Don Jaeger. Turning Turn: How One Game Changed the South Like the original USC movie, it’s a new venture designed to support a variety of filmmakers in development. This partnership supports Village Roadshow’s goal of continually garnering new votes and supporting the next generation of innovators.

Our ongoing initiatives at Village Roadshow Pictures align with the strong social message of this project and allow us to create a creative environment for future directors,” said Steve Mosco, CEO of Village Roadshow.
Led by senior producer and USC professor John Watson, VRP brought together a small group of recent USC alumni to collaborate on a script for fifteen weeks. The film will be written by Nick Brooks, James Grissom, K. Craig Patterson, Erica Sterling and Ladarius Torrey. Watson will also produce it.
A co-authored book by USC fullback Sam “Bem” Cunningham and defensive captain John Papadakis tells the true story of an event that changed college football forever: the first integrated football game to be played in Crimson Land in September 1970 in Alabama’s history. legendary coach Bear Bryant’s Tide was an all-white national powerhouse in the SEC; And the USC Trojans, delivered by John McKay, represented an all-black starting field that reflected the social changes that were sweeping the country.
“This project is an example of a new way of creating content and developing materials,” said Elizabeth Dale, Dean of the USC School of Cinematography. “With the collaboration of many writers on the screenplay, the project shapes the approach of the television writers’ chamber, allowing more votes to come to the table.
