Duke Clark (Arkansas) has wrapped production on a new comedy thriller titled Handshakewhich has a great cast that includes Ashley Benson (Wild nature), Jake Lacy (The White Lotus), Justin Long (Barbarian) AND Ron Perlman (The instigators).
The film is said to be in line with the Coen brothers’ work and is being billed as “a southern-fried siege, with shades of Dog afternoon AND Die Hard.”
The film centers on Bailey (Benson), “an exotic dancer with big dreams. She and her husband Tim (Lacy), an Army veteran, are fed up with barely making ends meet in a small town in Arkansas, so they decide to rob the strip club where she works.”
Producers Bachelor’s degree in law AND Jordan Beckerman said in a statement: “Clark Duke is a phenomenal talent, and we are thrilled to be working with him, along with this amazing cast. Stranglehold is a film like no other, it is equal parts action-packed, terrifying and hilarious, from a unique cinematic voice.”
Duke said: “I am thrilled to follow up on Arkansas with such an incredible cast. Stranglehold is a continuation of a lot of the themes I explored in Arkansas, a film that speaks very much to where we are now, and I can’t wait for people to see it.”
Duke is an actor turned director who made his directorial debut with Arkansas, a crime thriller about the Dixie Mafia, which he also co-wrote. That film was based on the novel by John Brandon, and it turned out to be a great film!
I can’t wait to see what Duke does with his next film project.
