Dave Bautista has come a long way as an actor since his days as a professional wrestler. His acting career took a huge leap forward with James Gunn’S Guardians of the Galaxyand has since then landed many great acting jobs.
He’s had a really impressive career and played some great characters, but despite that, Bautista feels “unfulfilled” as an actor and explains why.
While promoting his new film My Spy: The Eternal CityBautista has been candid about some of the internal challenges he has struggled with as a professional actor.
He told ET: “I feel unfulfilled as an actor. I have goals in certain areas. I want to be an actor from A to Z. I want to be in every genre.
“There are still some that I haven’t gotten into, some boxes that I haven’t checked. But I haven’t even gotten that role that’s just that deep, dramatic, touching role. [That’s what I’m] looking, so I feel very dissatisfied.”
I get it, it makes sense that he really wants to find that challenging dramatic role that will push him as an actor. At the same time, he’s constantly working in Hollywood, which is a business that’s so hard for a lot of people to break into and even when they do, it’s still hard for a lot of actors to get steady work.
Bautista also wants to direct someday, saying, “I’m a total control freak, so I want to direct. I want to direct performances and I want to make my own film.”
I am sure that as Bautista continues his journey as an actor, he will find the role he is looking for. And if he wants to direct, I am sure that sooner or later it will come to him, as he continues to try to make it happen.
