Robert Downey Jr.’s role as Doctor Doom in AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY is rumored

There are so many questions about Robert Downey Jr. returning to the MCU, but this time as Doctor Doom. While fans are excited for this, they don’t even know what the hell it means or what to expect from it.

Will the actor play an evil Tony Stark variant, or will he play “Victor Von Doom,” which is how he was introduced at Comic-Con? It sounds to me like he’s been cast as a completely new character, which is weird, but we’ll have to wait and see what they do.

Noted industry insider MTTSH claims to have inside information on the film and Marvel’s plans for the character in Avengers: Doomsday.

It is explained: “Doom is not truly evil; he believes he is saving the Multiverse from incursions. According to his twisted logic, the only way for the Multiverse to survive is to unify all the universes into one place (Battleworld) under his dominion. He sees this as the only way to ensure survival for all.”

This is a plot that I could see developing, but at the same time it’s still in an early stage of development and who knows if it’s true!?

The empathetic aspect of the story’s villain is something Marvel plays with a lot in their films, so it wouldn’t surprise me if they went down that route again with Doctor Doom.

As for the story, unless you’re in the room where it’s unfolding, we won’t know for sure where Marvel and the Russo Brothers want to go.
