Marvel brought Lightning* at their Hall H panel this year at Comic-Con, complete with footage from the ensemble superhero film, as well as the incredible cast, who play the characters of Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), United States Agent (Wyatt Russell), Ghost (by Hannah John Kamen), Team Leader (Olga Kurylenko), Countess Valentina Allegra De Fontaine (Julia Louis Dreyfus), and Sentinel (Lewis Pullman)
Then there is Red Guardian (David Port), The Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), AND Ford-Mussolini as General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, President of the United States in Captain America: New World Orderwhich this weekend was also confirmed to be Red Hulk. Ayo Edebiri is also a cast member in an undisclosed role.
Even though we were able to see some footage from the film, there was still a lot of information about the story, beyond the asterisk in the title, which has not yet been disclosed.
But David Harbour is teasing that the film will have major implications for the MCU. He met with CBM at the convention and explained:
“Our characters are going to interact with something that we don’t really understand, and that’s going to fundamentally change the course of how things unfold. That’s all I’m saying. Oh my God, I’m going to get calls tomorrow.”
It could be a reference to Pullman’s character, Sentry/Robert Reynolds, who is known as a character with the “power of a million explosive suns” who remains one of the most powerful characters in Marvel Comics. Or it could be something else entirely.
I can’t wait to see the movie and find out what the future holds for these characters, as well as the ripple effect it will have on the MCU. Lightning* will hit theaters on July 25, 2025.
