POWER RANGERS Tell the stories of the POWER RANGERS in ACROSS THE MORPHIN GRID #1

BOOM! Studios recently announced a nice surprise for The Power Rangers fans. While the long-running series The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers is coming to a close, but that doesn’t mean there are no more stories to tell.

A new anthology comic titled Power Rangers: Through the Morphin Grid It’s set to come out this October and it looks like a real gem. Many of the stories are from the same previous Power Rangers.

The full list of authors includes David Yost, Walter Jones, Steve Cardenas, Mat Groom, Nakia Burrise, JD Sutphin and Meghan Camerana. By my count, five of the seven were Power Rangers. They will be working with artists including Paulina Ganucheau, Tango, Patrick Mulholland, Domo Stanton and Anand Ramcheron.

Yost shared:

It was such an honor to work with all the talented people at BOOM! Studios and be asked to write a story based on my character, Billy. I had so much fun imagining where Billy would be at 28. I’m sure fans will enjoy my story and all the different stories told in this anthology. Let’s GoGo!

Cardenas said he is working with Groom on his story:

I’m so excited that BOOM! Studios is expanding the Morphin Grid Anthology, and it looks like I’m next on the list! I’ve had the great privilege of working briefly with BOOM! About Rocky and his background in the past. But now having the opportunity to create, collaborate, and tell my own story is just a dream come true for me. I hope you enjoy what Mat and I have cooked up as part of this new chapter!

Meanwhile, Burrise teased, “What happened to Tanya and Adam?” I’ll be honest. After rewatching the first few seasons, I really liked the Tanya and Adam pairing and am all for exploring that. This is probably the one I’ve been most interested in so far.

Sutphin shared his enthusiasm:

As someone who watched the first episode of Mighty Morphin live when it debuted as a kid; Power Rangers have meant the world to me for over 30 years! BOOM! continues to uphold their legacy and validate fans with the incredible stories and phenomenal art that these characters deserve. Being able to add to their world is so truly meaningful and a full circle moment for me that I will never take for granted.

Camarena added:

Who doesn’t love a Hyperforce burrito?! Chloe’s Chaos Kitchen features Chloe, accompanied by Sous Chef Vesper, cooking up some tasty and wild moments. I had a blast writing this and hope it fills your hearts and bellies with big, hearty laughs.

Gancheau confirmed that he worked with Camarena:

Working on this short with Meghan was a pure joy and a must-do before I die project. I’ve loved Power Rangers my whole life, so to finally have the chance to draw comic book pages, and some adorable and hilarious pages featuring the Pink Ranger, was a dream!

Domo shared his excitement at working with Jones:

This project was a childhood dream come true. When I was a kid, I pretended to be the Black Ranger; now to have the opportunity to work with Walter Jones is just amazing.

Tango has previewed the collaboration with Burrise:

It was both a nostalgia trip and exciting new territory to be able to work on this little glimpse into Tanya’s future as a seasoned Ranger. And give those nods to some of those relationships that are so central to her character.

Finally, Mulholland briefly expressed his gratitude and enthusiasm for collaborating with Yost:

I am so grateful to be back on the grid with Power Rangers. And who better to tell a personal story about the Blue Ranger than Billy Cranston himself, David Yost!

I think this is a really exciting comic for The Power Rangers fans. The oversized issue will be available at local comic book shops or wherever you want to buy comics on October 30th with pre-orders available now. The main cover is by Ejikure (The End of the Wild) with variant covers of Riley Rossmo (Martian Manhunter), Goni Mountains (The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers), AND Matt TaylorWhat do you hope to see in Through the Morphin Grid and who would you like to see write a story if we had a second?
