Kevin Feige recently opened approx. Deadpool and Wolverine being the Marvel film that actually plays a major role in introducing mutants into the MCU.
At the world premiere of Deadpool and WolverineFeige told Marvel Live: “It’s just the beginning. I said mutants are coming, and it all starts with this movie.”
She continued: “I can’t wait for people to see what [Deadpool & Wolverine] has in store and know that this is the beginning of the arrival of mutants finally, finally in the MCU.”
Feige has a long history with the X-Men, as he served as associate producer on the original X-Men film in 2000. So, Deadpool and Wolverine for him it’s a turning point.
He continued saying: “I was there for [X-Men] a quarter of a century ago,” Feige said. “It’s really remarkable. I thought that part of my film career was behind me.
“Those early X-Men movies were really important to me and started me on this journey. But when we started Marvel Studios, we didn’t have the rights.
“I thought I was just going to be a fan watching them. And now here I am, at the premiere with Hugh [Jackman, who plays Wolverine]it’s remarkable.”
Deadpool and Wolverine will be released in theaters on July 26.
