Daughter of the late director George A. Romero (Night of the Living Dead), Tina Romero is following in his father’s footsteps and directing a new zombie movie titled Queens of the Dead.
The film also has a cast that includes Katy O’Brian (Love lies bleeding), Margherita Cho (Fire Island), Brigitte Lundy Paine (I saw the TV shine) AND Cheyenne Jackson (American Horror Story).
The film is said to pay “homage to the zombies of Romero’s classic films with a fresh, contemporary and queer twist, promising to deliver a thrilling, glamorous and bloody journey through the zombie apocalypse.”
The story follows “an eclectic group of drag queens, club kids and frenemies who must put aside their personal dramas and use their unique skills to battle the brain-hungry undead when a zombie apocalypse erupts during their drag show in Brooklyn.”
Tina Romero said: “This is the cast of my wildest dreams. In a survival movie, you have to love and root for the survival team. Every single person in this cast brings such a special and specific flavor, both on and off screen. The result is truly a magic sauce.”
The cast also includes Nina West (RuPaul’s Drag Race), Jaquel Spivey (Bad Girls), Thomas Matos (Fire Island), Quincy Dunn Baker (Without hard feelings), Becca Blackwell (Brothers), Shaunette Renee Wilson (Black Panther), Dominique Jackson (Pose), Riki Lindhome (Knives out), AND Eva Lindley (Brothers).
Romero wrote the screenplay with Erin Judge.
